This year, I am walking for those too often unseen, the transmasculine community. At the Florida AIDS Walk, we?re not just raising awareness; we are claiming visibility, access, and justice for transmasculine folks.
Why this matters:
- In the United States, transgender people made up approximately 2% of all new HIV diagnoses in 2019, with the vast majority of those diagnoses among transgender women.
- A meta-analysis estimated HIV prevalence among transgender men at 3.2% (95% CI 1.4-7.1%), markedly higher than the general population, and evidence of significant risk for transmasculine individuals.
- One study found only 34% of PrEP-eligible transmasculine people had ever been provided PrEP information by a healthcare provider; even fewer were actually on PrEP (just about 11%).
- HIV testing among transgender and non-binary adults is below national recommendations in many geographies, particularly in high-need regions.
Your donation helps us change that. Each dollar supports outreach, education, and healing initiatives that affirm transmasculine lives, ensuring our community is finally represented, respected, and resourced.
Together, we can make sure no one is left behind in the fight against HIV.
Donate today and/or walk with us in solidarity. Your support brings hope, healing, and visibility where it is needed most.
If you are unable to donate online, please print out a donation form.
