My name is Leonardo Montenegro, and I will be serving as the team captain for the REACH Equity Lab this year at the 2026 Florida AIDS Walk!
I am a Research Assistant at the University of Miami's REACH Equity Lab, where I work on community-driven research focused on HIV prevention, mental health, and advancing health equity. Our work centers on partnering with local organizations and community members to develop practical tools and strategies that expand access to care and reduce disparities.
Participating in the Florida AIDS Walk is especially meaningful to me because it represents more than just a single day of action—it reflects an ongoing commitment to advocacy, compassion, and community. HIV prevention and care are not only professional priorities for me, but personal passions.
I am honored to lead our team, stand in solidarity with those impacted by HIV, and help raise critical funds that support prevention, treatment, and supportive services across Florida.
