Equality Florida has been selected as a beneficiary and team participant of the 2025 Florida AIDS Walk & Music Festival! This event is an educational fundraising initiative managed by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) to support organizations that help Floridians living with HIV. AHF is a global nonprofit organization providing high-quality HIV care and services to those in need. The organization generates new, innovative ways of treating and addressing barriers to care for their clients through a network of pharmacies, thrift stores, health and wellness centers, affordable housing locations, and food-service programs.
If we raise $400,000 through our Florida AIDS Walk Team by March 31, 2025, AHF will contribute $290,000 to Equality Florida! To take advantage of this opportunity, please consider making a donation to our team.
Why support EQFL?
Florida has one of the highest rates of new HIV transmissions in the country, and three of the top five metro areas with the highest incidence of HIV are right here in our state. But even worse than the rate of transmission is how our state has been treating people living with HIV like criminals since the ‘80s — because of outdated and stigmatizing laws still on the books.
We’re working to change that. Last year, we helped pass the first pro-LGBTQ law in recent history — PEP Access. This new law expands access to medication critical to preventing HIV transmission by allowing pharmacists to dispense postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) under physician-developed protocols.
But there’s more work to do.
The Florida AIDS Walk empowers our community to work together to achieve a state where there are ZERO new HIV transmissions, and NO ONE living with HIV faces discrimination based on their HIV status. By joining our walk team, you can help us raise awareness and show our commitment to ending HIV.
