Why We Walk

Walking For Change

While HIV and AIDS have fallen out of the spotlight in recent years, the epidemic is far from over. An estimated 1.2 million people in the US are living with HIV, and about 15% of them don’t know it. Florida AIDS Walk works to bring attention to this pressing issue, educate and inspire our community to work together and end the epidemic once and for all.

We walk for the more than 115,000 people living with HIV in Florida. We walk to remember those who no longer can. We walk to remind you that you are not alone. We walk for a nation. We walk for change.

Where Does the Money Go?

AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF)

AIDS Healthcare Foundation provides cutting-edge medicine and advocacy regardless of ability to pay. They are dedicated to ending the HIV epidemic in Florida and beyond as the largest provider of HIV care in the world.

AFRO PRIDE FLORIDA 

Afro Pride builds health & social equity by fostering the mental, social, & economic wellness of the Black & Afrocentric LGBTQ+ community including those who love and support them in South Florida.

AQUA

AQUA serves the lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community in South Florida through scholarships and initiatives. Since 2004, they've been Florida's only nonprofit dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ women.

Broward House

Broward House is the oldest and largest provider of housing and only substance use treatment center in Broward County specifically for people living with HIV.

Equality Florida Institute 

Equality Florida is the largest civil rights organization dedicated to securing full equality for Florida’s LGBTQ community.

Hot Spots HSHO 

HSHO is part of a dynamic alliance of 501(c)3 nonprofits united in their commitment to enhancing the well-being of South Florida's LGBTQ+ community through print, digital media, and events.

The McKenzie Project

The McKenzie Project is a pioneering Black trans-led initiative in Miami Dade dedicated to empowering and educating Black transgender and nonbinary individuals and promoting equity in South Florida.

Positive People Network

Positive People Network Inc. improves life quality for those living with HIV through advocacy, education, support, and community engagement, fostering empowerment, health equity, and resilience.

The Pride Center at Equality Park 

The Pride Center provides a welcoming, safe space — an inclusive home — that celebrates, nurtures, and empowers the LGBTQ+ communities and our friends and neighbors in South Florida.

Pridelines

Pridelines' mission is to support, educate, and empower South Florida's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQIA+) youth and community, in safe and diverse spaces, to promote dialogue and wellness, and foster social change.

PRISM

PRISM is a youth-led nonprofit that works to expand access to LGBT-inclusive education and sexual health resources for young people in South Florida.

Safe Schools South Florida 

Safe Schools champions LGBTQ+ rights by creating safe environments through advocacy, education, and support, focusing on well-being, anti-bullying, safer sex, and HIV/AIDS awareness.

SAVE Foundation 

SAVE Foundation is recognized as South Florida’s longest serving organization dedicated to protecting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) against discrimination.

SunServe

Based in the belief that everyone deserves quality care regardless of ability to pay, SunServe provides critical mental health and social services for South Florida’s LGBTQ+ community.

Transinclusive 

Transinclusive Group advocates for transgender and LGBTQ+ rights, health, and equity in South Florida, providing vital support and empowerment with a particular focus on trans people of color.

UJIMA Men's Collective

Ujima Men's Collective is dedicated to enhancing lives emphasizing Black communities by uplifting all communities through leadership, advocacy, relationships, spirituality, and health & wellness.
